Perspective shaped by experience.

My perspective has been shaped by a career spanning philanthropy, nonprofit leadership, international development and law. I have worked as a funder, an adviser and alongside organizations doing the work — experiences that give me a practical understanding of philanthropy from multiple vantage points.

I have spent nearly two decades working in philanthropy and social impact — building organizations, advising donors and working alongside nonprofit leaders tackling complex social challenges.

My experience spans very different contexts — from addressing homelessness in Vancouver as the founding President and CEO of Streetohome Foundation, to advancing economic opportunities in Latin America with the Clinton Foundation, to humanitarian response during the European refugee crisis as Chief Philanthropy Officer of the Giustra Foundation.

Before entering philanthropy, I practiced law in New York. Born in South Korea and raised in Latin America, I have lived, studied and worked across countries, cultures and sectors — experiences that have shaped both how I see problems and how I approach them.

That breadth of experience informs my approach to philanthropy today. I believe giving well requires more than identifying a worthy cause. It means understanding the forces shaping an issue, asking the right questions, drawing on research, data, context and lived experience, and identifying where resources can have the greatest effect.

There is rarely one obvious answer. My role is to bring perspective and judgment to those decisions — helping clients develop an approach to their philanthropy that is thoughtful, strategic and grounded in what they hope to achieve.

I hold degrees from the University of Oxford and Brown University and speak English, Spanish and Korean.
